Art

I love the lessons! They are easy to understand and fun at the same time. It gives me a chance to take an art class even though I don’t have the time at school to fit it into my schedule. Thank you for making this art class!

Great!

I love it because I am a new art teacher and haven't honed my skills in drawing. I want to teach my students the same way you do so that I can follow a more cohesive curriculum.

Needs Some Work

I have been following Lauren's TikTok and was excited to take her art class. I do feel I have learned a lot but the class could use some work.

Function
I watch this on a desktop computer while following along so getting each lesson through QR code is annoying. Maybe you could just link an entire place list with QR code for those of us not following the lessons on our phone. Some videos linked to the next and some did not.

Lessons
All the lessons seemed really really short. I was shocked to see that most of them are about 5 minutes long. Surely the class you teach is longer than this. It also felt really rushed. I have not finished all the lessons. I am on How NOT to draw a mouth. I am disappointed you did not do a drawing demo here. A lot of us are visual learners and it is very helpful to see you drawing as you are explaining. Also you did draw the mouth, eyes, and nose so why not just put a video of you doing that in? It could have been at the end with or without a voice over.
I also thought you spent way way to long on continuous contour and I only did 2 of those lessons. You showed a demo of you doing all of those, but not when we get to the more complected stuff. Why?

Good for Highschoolers and up (not kids)
I just do not feel the average 8 year old could follow along with these lessons.

As I have followed along I do feel that my drawings look great and I am learning. So this is useful but I feel it needs work.

Hey! Thank you so much for this feedback. It's extremly helpful to me and I really appreciate you taking the time to be so detailed.

I do want to address the scanning of the code- I totally agree it would be a pain to scan each one if you're working from a desktop, so I linked all the videos together. You may have missed it, I havent done a great job of drawing attention to it. At the end of each video, a pop-up with the next video will show. So as soon as your video runs out, you can just click the link to the next one on the actual video. In theory, this means you will only have to scan a QR code one time. Let me know if that doesn't make sense and I can try and explain it better!

As far as the length of the videos, you provided some excellent feedback. In my class, I do try to talk as little as possible, and have the students learn by doing, rather than listening. So although the lesson is typically 5-15 minutes, I'm walking around working with students as they complete the assignment. It's so tricky to not be able to walk around and help, and I totally understand why you may feel rushed if you're trying to finish within the time frame of the video. My classes are 90 minutes, and sometimes we do one lesson, and sometimes we cover three in a class, but each activity will take you much longer than the length of the video. I do think including my demo for every part of the book is a great note, and I will totally do that next book! Maybe I will add some supplemental videos on YouTube that show those sections in more detail? Let me know if that would be helpful!

Thank you again, I really appreciate you!
Lauren
